Apple Campus 2 Underground Auditorium Shown Off in New Aerial Video

Apple’s second „spaceship“ campus is scheduled to be completed in late 2016, giving the company just 12 months to wrap up construction to stay on schedule. Apple’s construction crews have been hard at work over the past few months, making a lot of headway on the main ring-shaped building, the underground auditorium, and the parking structures.

Drone pilot Duncan Sinfield today shared another monthly campus update video with MacRumors, giving a close-up look at how construction has progressed since November.

Four levels of the main ring-shaped building have been completed, bringing Steve Jobs’ original vision of the campus to life. With the walls in place, the special curved glass windows that will encircle the building will likely be going up soon.

This month’s video also gives a clear look at the underground auditorium Apple is building, where it will host events to show off new products. Also depicted is the Tantau development, a set of additional buildings that will serve as research and development facilities.

When it’s finished, the second Apple campus will feature the 2.8 million square foot ring-shaped main building, several parking structures, a 100,000 square foot fitness center, a 120,000 square foot auditorium, and a dedicated visitor’s center with an observation deck, cafe, and Apple Store.

Two years on, Apple’s spaceship campus is taking off

How time flies! This month marks two years since ground broke on Apple’s futuristic new “spaceship” campus, and — despite the odd hitch along the way — things are looking impressively together. Apple Campus 2 ‘Spaceship’ Taking Shape as Construction Continues

Heading into November, construction on Apple’s second campus is progressing nicely, with Apple’s construction crews making a lot of headway on the ring-shaped main building. A new aerial video captured by drone pilot Duncan Sinfield and shared with MacRumors gives a close-up view at the current state of the building.

Four internal levels of the primary building have now been completed, and the concept Steve Jobs envisioned for the campus is starting to take shape. When completed, the interior area of the building will feature hundreds of trees and lots of greenery, with outdoor eating and viewing areas for Apple employees.

Two nearby parking structures are now close to being completed, and there’s also been some progress made on the underground auditorium, where Apple will hold major press events. There have been a lot of changes since we last shared an aerial video in September.

When fully complete, the second Apple campus will feature the 2.8 million square foot ring-shaped main building, several parking structures, a 100,000 square foot fitness center, a 120,000 square foot auditorium for hosting events, and a dedicated visitor’s center complete with an observation deck, cafe, and Apple Store. Apple is on track to finish construction at the end of next year.

Ongoing Apple Campus 2 Progress Shown in High-Quality Aerial Video

Construction on Apple’s second campus in Cupertino is continuing at a steady pace, as seen in a new aerial video captured by drone pilot Duncan Sinfield and shared with MacRumors.

Shot earlier today, Sinfield’s video offers a detailed look at the progress Apple has made since he shot his last video on August 1, and it gives details on the different buildings Apple is constructing. Sinfield’s also cleverly overlaid some of Steve Jobs’ original commentary on the campus, making this video update well worth watching.

Work on the ring-shaped main building is continuing, as is construction on a multi-level underground parking structure. A secondary parking lot at the west of the campus is nearly finished, the auditorium has gained interior walls, and construction workers have also made progress on the Tantau development, housing research facilities.

When finished, the second Apple campus will feature a huge 2.8 million square foot ring-shaped main building, an underground parking lot, a 100,000 square foot fitness center, a 120,000 square foot auditorium for hosting events, and a dedicated visitor’s center complete with an observation deck, cafe, and Apple Store.

Apple continues to be on track to complete construction on the campus at the end of 2016.
