Apple to Open Third Netherlands Retail Store This Saturday, August 9 [Mac Blog]

Apple has announced on its website (via ifoAppleStore) that it will open its third store in the Netherlands this Saturday, August 9 at The Hague’s Passage mall. Job listings for the store were posted over a year ago, as the location itself will join Apple’s stores in Haarlem and Amsterdam.

According to One More Thing [Google Translate], the new location in The Hague will also feature the first 360-degree Genius Bar, which will be accompanied by Apple’s trademark glass exterior and retail store aspects.

Apple’s newest retail store in The Hague will open at 10 AM this Saturday, August 9. As with the company’s other retail openings, it is expected that those first in line will receive a free t-shirt commemorating the new store.

iPhone 6 Renders Reimagined as iPhone 6c [iOS Blog]

Last week we posted renderings of what the iPhone 6 might look like based on leaked design drawings of the unreleased device. Since that time, we’ve seen early cases and possible design molds for the device.

Ferry Passchier, the designer we commissioned for the original designs, has rethought the design as if it was modeled after the iPhone 5c with colorful plastic backings. Passchier produced these renderings with that in mind:

The original renderings assumed it followed Apple’s aluminum design of the iPhone 5s, though an all-aluminum design would introduce issues with Apple’s antenna design.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 6 this fall, and we expect to see more design and part leaks as production starts ramping up.

Apple Acknowledges Consumers Want Larger and Cheaper Phones

The latest internal documents coming out of the Samsung/Apple trial show some candid insight into Apple’s analysis of the future of the smartphone market.

The documents posted by Re/code include an Apple slide deck from April, 2013 for 2014 planning. The document includes graphs showing that Apple’s growth rates are slowing quarter after quarter. The main reason for the decline amongst consumers? Consumers want less expensive and larger screen smartphones:

In a further breakdown, Apple acknowledges that „consumers want what we don’t have“ – which shows that the majority of smartphone growth is in both >4″ screen sizes and <$300 markets. <br/>

Apple has been heavily rumored to be introducing a larger iPhone 6 this fall. The size of the new iPhone has been thought to be 4.7″ or 5.5″ with the 4.7″ model coming first. While rumors have been consistent, Apple’s own insights from 2013 explain why such a move is likely to happen.
