The limited time offer requires both smartphones to be purchased on AT&T Next with a qualifying plan. The first device can be a new line or an upgrade, while the second device must be a new line and purchased on AT&T Next 24.
After three bill cycles or less, AT&T said customers will start to receive up to $650 in bill credits spread out over 30 monthly payments. The first payment will be a lump sum of any AT&T Next payments to that date. Tax is still due on both smartphones, which must be from the same manufacturer, upon purchase.
Last month, T-Mobile announced a similar „BOGO“ promotion that offers qualifying Simple Choice customers half off all iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, or any iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with the purchase of another iPhone of equal or greater value. The savings are applied instantly at the point of sale.

But he says so gently by offering iPhone fans a glimpse of what a jackless future might look like. Apple today updated its Apple Music app for Android users, adding a new feature that allows them to save downloaded songs to an SD card on compatible smartphones. „You can now keep more music offline,“ reads the update note.
Several Android-based phones allow users to upgrade their storage using SD and microSD cards. As The Verge points out, with the ability to save downloaded content, Android users can potentially have access to more music than iOS users who are limited to a maximum of 128GB of storage on iPhones and iPads.
Today’s Android update also adds a full schedule for Beats 1 shows and it includes My Music options for browsing by Composers and Compilations, features previously available to iOS users.
Apple Music for Android first launched in November, marking Apple’s first major app for Android users. The Android-based app, available in all the countries where Apple Music for iOS is available, allows Android users to subscribe to the Apple Music service.
The Android Apple Music app, which remains in beta, can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for free. It comes with a free three-month Apple Music trial.
As our digital lives converge across mobile and desktop devices like our iPhones and Macbooks, we rely on them knowing where we are at any given time. Safari suggestions, for example, count on knowing your location, as do any Maps searches or such. You might want to know when your Location data is being used, […]
Apple is reportedly developing a wirelessly-charged iPhone for as soon as 2017, according to Bloomberg. The company is working with its partners in both the U.S. and Asia to create the technology.
Apple is exploring cutting-edge technologies that would allow iPhones and iPads to be powered from further away than the charging mats used with current smartphones, the people said, asking not to be identified as the details are private. The iPhone maker is looking to overcome technical barriers including loss of power over distance with a decision on implementing the technology still being assessed, they said.
Current wirelessly-charged devices require users to place their phones or other devices on charging mats. In September 2012, Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said that the company wasn’t sure of how convenient wireless charging is as most wireless charging systems still have to be plugged into a wall.
In early January, it was reported that Apple was working on wireless charging for the iPhone 7. However, that report warned that the feature could be pulled from the iPhone 7 for a future iteration of the device as Apple is working on the technology currently.
Apple has held an interest in wireless charging since the first iPhone, gaining patents for wireless charging stations and wireless charging through a near field magnetic resonance, which wirelessly charges a device within a certain region. The Cupertino company has also shown an interest in WiTricity’s wireless charging technology, which uses „hidden charging“ technology that allows magnetic fields to wrap around barriers. This allows users to place their charging pads wherever they want.
Last November it was reported that the iPhone 7 would see the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack for an all-in-one Lightning connector that allows users to both power their device and plug in headphones. While the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack would mean that Apple would be able to make the iPhone thinner, it would not allow users to listen to headphones and charge their phone at the same time. A proprietary wireless charging solution from Apple in future iPhones with all-in-one Lightning connectors would likely allow for that.
Here’s another great deal on Apple gear, with $229 off a 16, 64, or 128 gigabyte iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. You can still buy the last-generation handset over at Apple, but only in the 16 or 64 gigabyte configurations, so if you’re looking for a high-capacity iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, this is your […]
LifeProof today announced the expansion of its FRĒ Power case line to the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus, marking the debut of the company’s first waterproof battery case for Apple’s larger-screened iPhones.
The IP-68 rated FRĒ Power is a fully waterproof iPhone case that’s submersible to 2 meters for up to an hour. In addition to being waterproof, it’s able to keep the iPhone safe from dirt, snow, dust, and damage from accidental drops. It’s able to survive a drop from as high as 2 meters, or 6.6 feet, and the screen protector will keep the display free from scratches.
Inside the FRĒ Power, there’s a 3,200 mAh battery that should give the iPhone 6s Plus approximately one full charge. It includes auto-stop charge and rapid recharge technology to maximize extra battery life. Available in „Blacktop Black“ and „Base Jump Blue,“ the FRĒ Power’s design keeps the iPhone protected but leaves the cameras, buttons, and Touch ID fingerprint scanner available for use.
„LifeProof continues to defy the limits of possibility with smartphones,“ said LifeProof President and CEO Pete Lindgren. „FRĒ Power for iPhone 6s Plus takes Apple’s large form-factor device on bigger, better adventures with double the battery capacity and our award-winning four-proof protection against the elements.“
According to LifeProof, the FRĒ Power for iPhone 6s Plus will soon be available for purchase from the LifeProof website. It will retail for $149.99.
Apple CEO Tim Cook attended one of Apple’s Hour of Code events in New York this afternoon, where he spoke to Mashable‘s Lance Ulanoff about the new iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case, which debuted yesterday.
Ulanoff asked Cook if he was excited about the „hump,“ a mocking nickname people have given to the battery case due to its distinctive shape. In response, Tim Cook said he was aware of the comments people were making about the case. „You know, I probably wouldn’t call it ‘the hump,'“ Cook said.
Cook went on to point out the malleability of the new Smart Battery Case in comparison to other battery cases. It’s made of a soft silicone that makes it easy to put on and remove, unlike more rigid cases from third-party companies.
Cook was pointing out the issue with cases, like those from Mophie, that are so rigid it takes considerable strength and patience to put them on and take them off.
„If you make this solid all the way across,“ said Cook, indicating the spots where the Apple case’s embedded battery stops and you just have the soft fluoroelastomer casing, „in order to get it on, you’d find it very difficult to get it on and off.“
„So the guys had this great insight to put the bend in along with making it a smart case,“ Cook explained.
Cook also commented on the viewpoint that the case is an admission the iPhone 6s battery is too small, saying most people who charge their iPhones every day won’t need the case. „But if you’re out hiking and you go on overnight trips… it’s kind of nice to have,“ he said.
Apple introduced its iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case yesterday morning, and its distinctive humped design quickly led to derision and negative comments from iPhone users. Reviews of the Smart Battery Case were also not overly positive as the case doesn’t have enough capacity to fully recharge an iPhone and it’s missing some features that are found in third-party battery cases.
Apple’s Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 6s is priced at $99 and is available from the online Apple Store and Apple retail locations.
