‘Steve Jobs’ Available on Blu-ray and DVD Tomorrow (Win a Copy)

Universal Pictures’ Steve Jobs moving starring Michael Fassbender as Jobs and Seth Rogen as Wozniak will be in retail stores starting tomorrow, February 16, with Blu-ray and DVD copies available for purchase. Special features include a behind the scenes look at the filming of the movie along with commentary from Aaron Sorkin and Danny Boyle, and other members of the Steve Jobs cast and crew.

– Feature Commentary with Director Danny Boyle

– Feature Commentary with Writer Aaron Sorkin and Editor Elliot Graham

The DVD and Blu-ray release comes two weeks ahead of the 88th Annual Academy Awards ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, February 28. Michael Fassbender, who played Jobs, and Kate Winslet, who played Joanna Hoffman, have both been nominated to win an Oscar. Winslet won Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes in January and took home the award for Best Supporting Actress from The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award ceremony yesterday.

A Digital HD version of Steve Jobs was released earlier this month on several online storefronts, including iTunes. It was given little fanfare by Apple and was not featured under the list of new releases, an unsurprising move given the negative reaction the movie received from Apple executives. Apple CEO Tim Cook called the movie and other similar Jobs-related titles „opportunistic.“

Despite positive reviews, Steve Jobs saw a disappointing box office performance following its October debut, bringing in just $7.3 million during the opening weekend of its wide theatrical release. It was pulled from more than 2,072 theaters just a few weeks after its launch, but it has seen a strong showing during the awards season.

Sony’s pico projector makes a big, bright picture

You should never take a video projector camping — it completely defeats the object of the great outdoors. Unless you have kids. Then it’s handy to beam a movie onto the side of a tent to keep them quiet while you drink. Perfect for the job is Sony’s $350 MP-CL1 — a small, battery-powered pico projector. Not much bigger than […]

iPad Pro Diary: The iOS ecosystem is much deeper than I knew

iPad Pro Diary, Day 2: I have a shameful confession to make. Even though I’ve been using an iPad and iPhone for years, I haven’t really been using them. I do a few things that haven’t changed for donkeys. I read on the iPad all the time and send the odd email. I play songs […]

iPad Pro is big and beautiful: Unboxing and first impressions

I ordered the iPad Pro online at first light this morning and picked it up at the Apple Store in Stonestown, San Francisco, just as the store opened. Aside from the sticker shock — more than $1,326.49 for the iPad, Pencil and Smart Keyboard — I was surprised at how readily it is available. Seems […]

Apple TV 4 Orders Begin Shipping for October 30 Delivery

Roughly 24 hours after orders for the new Apple TV began shifting to „Preparing for Shipment“ status, Apple has begun notifying customers that their orders have shipped. Early reports so far all appear to be from Australia where it is currently the afternoon of October 29, and deliveries are scheduled for Friday, October 30. Shipment notifications for customers in other countries should begin rolling out in the coming hours as the clocks roll around into business hours on Thursday.

Apple began taking orders for the Apple TV on Monday, with the earliest deliveries being quoted Friday, October 30 arrival dates. Apple’s own retail stores are also expected to begin carrying the new Apple TV on Friday, with other retailers such as Best Buy apparently not seeing availability until next week.

Press reviews of the new Apple TV landed just a few hours ago, with the new set-top box generally receiving a positive response for its evolutionary advances, although it does not yet completely remake the television experience as many have been hoping for Apple to do for a number of years. One key feature of the new Apple TV is the tvOS App Store, however, and we’ve yet to really see how developers will embrace the new platform that opens up apps to the living room.

(Thanks, Rogan!)
