Evasi0n 1.3 Brings Support For iOS 6.1.1 On iPhone 4S [Jailbreak]

Evasi0n has been updated to support the iOS 6.1.1 firmware that was released for the iPhone 4S on Monday. This allows users who are suffering the 3G connection issues to update their iPhone’s software and then instantly restore their jailbreak.

Shortly after Apple released iOS 6.1.1 on Monday, hacker “planetbeing” announced that the Cupertino company hadn’t patched the exploits that were required to jailbreak iOS devices. It probably will with a future release, but for now, the jailbreakers among you are safe.

And with the latest version of evasi0n, which is available for Mac, PC, and Linux, you can safely update your device to iOS 6.1.1 and then jailbreak again. You’ll need to restore it in iTunes before updating, so make sure you’ve backed up your data — though this should happen automatically. You can then begin from scratch, or restore your backup before jailbreaking.

The evad3rs have stressed that you should not attempt to update your device over-the-air.

The update to iOS 6.1.1 is only required on the iPhone 4S, and it appears not all users have been experiencing the problems that it fixes. If your iPhone 4S is running just fine with iOS 6.1, you don’t need to go through the trouble of updating if you don’t want to.
