Recap of the Day’s Downloads

Over the course of Monday, Microsoft made many of its Vista and Office related technologies available for download as final RTW (Release To Web) versions. Here’s a recap of everything available so far and any upcoming downloads:
.NET Framework 3.0 – The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is the new managed code programming model for Windows®. It combines the power of the .NET Framework version 2.0 with new technologies for building applications that have visually compelling user experiences, seamless communication across technology boundaries, and the ability to support a wide range of business processes. These new technologies are Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, and Windows CardSpace.
Windows Vista SDK – The Microsoft® Windows® Software Development Kit (SDK) provides the documentation, samples, header files, libraries, and tools you need to develop applications that run on Windows. The Windows SDK includes content for application development with the APIs in Windows Vista, including the .NET Framework 3.0 technologies: .NET Framework 2.0, Windows® Presentation Foundation, Windows® Communication Foundation, Windows® Workflow Foundation, and Windows CardSpace™.
Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the 2007 Microsoft Office System – Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (also known as “Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second Edition” or “VSTO 2005 SE”) is an add-on to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 that enables you to build application-level add-ins for applications in the 2007 Microsoft Office system and the Microsoft Office 2003 System.
Windows Vista Driver Kit (Registerd Testers Only) – The Windows Driver Kit (WDK) is a fully integrated driver development system for the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. It combines the Windows DDK and the Hardware Compatibility Test (HCT) kits, and also provides tests that Microsoft uses to test the stability and reliability of the Windows operating system.
Office 2007 RTM Trial Download Site – Although unavailable for download until December 1st, the trial download site is now available for Office 2007. The trial version allows you to evaluate the 2007 Office release for a limited amount of time, typically 60 days.
What’s left to be released? WAIK, the automated installation kit for deploying Windows Vista has yet to make an appearance and of course the one we’ve all been waiting for, Windows Vista RTM. Stay tuned for further updates.
